As soon as you send medicine home, you will need it. Even if you have not needed it for over a year. The following week after you part with it, you will begin to show symptoms that require that very medicine. They will not have it at the local pharmacy.
When you become a teacher, you will go from asking the students to repeat the instructions for four-square to being prepared for the four-square world championships.
As soon as you start a blog and tell everyone you know about it, you will stop writing on it. You will start to feel guilty about it. To make it up to everyone, you will post many things in quick succession.
When you mention that the glitter a child used once was pretty, you will end up with what I will from now on refer to as “glitter luggage.” You cannot get it off. Never mention glitter in a positive light.
When you fall asleep on a bus, you may not be woken up when it reaches the last stop. It is possible to wake up in the bus parking lot. This can happen more than once.
At some point during your travels, you will be caught in the middle of a country’s worst snow in living memory. There’s nothing you can do about it.
When you finally feel like you belong, it will be time to leave.
